People actively buying up at foreign online stores, downloading mail
From January to June 2019, Ukrainians sent 131.7 million letters, book posts and parcels. That means, that average citizen of the country, taking into account pensioners and newborns, used postal services for the specified period three times. Such data are provided by the State Statistics Service in a quarterly report.
The ministry estimates that out of the indicated amount, 20 million items were parcels. Moreover, 3.8 million - almost every fifth - were sent abroad or received from abroad. These numbers close to last year data, when in 12 months Ukrainians sent 41.2 million parcels. Probably, the trend is associated with purchases at foreign online stores.
At the same time, the cost of the services of postal operators provided to individuals and enterprises in the first half of the year amounted to 3.16 billion UAH (130 million Euro). For comparison, over the same period, the country's mobile operators provided Ukrainians with services worth UAH 17.8 billion (643 million Euro). And Internet providers - 6.5 billion UAH (235 million Euro).
